Burn Rehabilitation and Post-Acute Care Center
The Center of Burn Rehabilitation and Post Acute Care is equipped with high-quality facilities and equipment, including advanced rehabilitation, scar treatment equipment, rehabilitation medical team. It has been provided more than 2,686 person-times of plastic surgery and rehabilitation clinics, and 10,163 follow-up rehabilitation treatments for burn injured patients. A forty-seven percent of patients (234 people) who injured after Taiwan water park blast (colored powder fire disaster) received medical treatment from the center since three years ago. During the planning and response to the disaster, burns specialists were involved to develop rehabilitation techniques for tissue salvage and application of tissue engineering technologies in addition to traditional techniques of wound care. The quality of care is significantly improving the scar hyperplasia and joint contracture of patients. With advancements in overall burn care, shifting focus to improving other outcomes, reducing chronic pain, managing post-traumatic stress, and optimizing cosmetic appearance was also addressed. The ultimate goal of rehabilitation following a burn injury is reintegration into society. Most of the patient rehabilitation progress is significantly ahead of schedule and return to daily life. Only 45 patients need further medical rehabilitation and services.
